September Sunset in the Orchard by Lindsey Ocker
The beautiful composition and burst of soft sunlight combined with the rich reds of the apples really resonate with the season, making this image one of our favorites.

Moose in Aroostook County by Lori Prosser
Wildlife is not an easy subject. It’s all about timing and we love how this moose was caught in a sea of autumnal grasses framed by fall foliage.

Fern Foliage by Mike Fillyaw
We appreciate an eye toward the details of autumn and the colors and textures that the season brings. The graphic composition of the delicate fern leaves really caught our attention.

Autumn on the Marsh by Charlene Salvaggio
The subtle autumn hues in the grassy marsh and the turn of the water’s path that lead your eye into the frame add a fine art painterly quality to this image.

Still Morning on the Pond by Eyal Oren
The interesting angles and composition in this landscape work well. We liked the reflections of a colorful moody sky, autumn trees and a network of connected docks in the still water.

Congratulations to all five of these photographers! Each are beautiful in their own right. The Autumn on the Marsh is a majical moment pictifying the change of the season and it's spirit of misty uncertainty as it arrives quietly in soft beauty.

The photos are great. I especially love the moose!! This photo is so beautiful, showing the moose in the perfect setting, sunlinght is just right to show off the animals beautiful fur with the soft fall colors in the background. A sight that many wish to see, but few get such a beautiful opportunity. Great job Lori Prosser!

Congratulations to all 5 finalists. Having photographed my share of wildlife I can appreciate the difficulty in getting the image of the moose against a fall backdrop. The clarity of the image is wonderful. I also like the apple tree but the moose is my pick.
Comment from Patricia Jennings on November 30, 2012
They're all beautiful, but I really love the apple tree.

I love all of the final picutres -- such diversity! I found I kept going back to the picture of the fern leaves -- it was so intricate and interesting!

Moose in Aroostook County is my favorite, although it was not an easy choice, every photo is outstanding. But the Fall colors and the moose just made me feel drawn in, as though I was right there standing in the grasses watching.
Comment from Marcia White on December 4, 2012
All of the photos are wonderful and so typically New England! My favorite is the apple tree with the moose a close second.

Comment from Cheryl Linsley on December 4, 2012
They are all so interesting, yet varied. I like the apple tree best with the moose a very close second.
Comment from Sarah Walsemann on December 4, 2012
Every one of these photos is beautiful. I can almost smell the apples under the tree. I would love to see a moose in the wild and be able to get a photo of like that! Being a kayaker the lake and creek photos bring back many pleasant memories of kayaking trips. Congratulations to each photographer!
Comment from jeff Folger on December 4, 2012
Boy this is a tough one... I would go with the Moose because I know how tough they are to get and he is set nicely against the fall color back drop. The others are all very good images in their own rights and for different reasons but this one screams fall and foliage just a bit louder than the others... Lori P and her moose is my selection. As a proud resident of Londonderry, NH, I couldn't choose anything else but the apple tree! It brings home in such a splendid way the beauty of such a humble part of our heritage. The composition is gorgeous and the light is used in such a brilliant way, great photo!

Autumn On The Marsh is a very rare and ellusive sight; still, tranquil and yet colorfully melancholy...the ultimate vision of the season...I 'm partial to this one.
Comment from on December 10, 2012
The apple tree has my vote. It is so New England in the fall.
Comment from mary anne fillyaw on January 27, 2013
