Color Report for Maine Coast
Ogunquit to Pemaquid Maine foliage color
by Jeff "Foliage" Folger
Howdy Foliage Fans!
I got a call from Mary Jo and Leroy (Forum regulars) the the Maine coastal foliage color was very strong Saturday.
They left Ogunquit in the morning and drove up route 1 to Pemaquid Maine where they are staying for the last few days of their Foliage vacation and Leroy told me that the color was great most all the way up the coast.
The Maine board of tourism tells me that from Kittery all the way up the coast it's looking nice...
That said we're getting some wind so you might get out there and do your looking because leaf loss in my neck of the woods is going up with the breeze. The days are numbered for getting out and peak is being reported for most of CT/MA and RI. I'll be getting out a little to day and try to add to this report for southern NH and then on Wednesday I'm heading out for CT & RI for a big loop to see where the color is remaining at.
There is rain forecast for Mon & Tues so whether I find some color on the trees or on the ground is up to Mother Nature. Personally I think as we head into Halloween (YAYYY!!!) weekend that we should still have good foliage opportunities, at least through the 26th but if the rain hits too hard then it will bring down the majority of the leaves...
So that said... WHAT ARE YOU DOING SITTING HERE READING THIS??? :-)
Get out there and check out a local farm stand or a corn maze or hug a red maple (OK, don't hug it but appreciate it...)
Then go home and heat up some of the apple cider that you bought while at the farm stand!!!
Good journeys...
