Greetings haunted leaf peepers!

Well Halloween has come and gone for another year. We had help setting up our ghastly graveyard from our friends (Rich, Adele and Kira) who drove in from Farmington, NH, for this Friday's Halloween.

I'm looking back on Friday night to make notes for next year. I noted that we did our best to scare the pants off the kids in the neighborhood.

In some cases they came in and said "yeah right"..... grabbed their candy and walked off, (probably, they'll grow up to be lawyers...)

With others, they either wouldn't enter the yard (always a good sign) or even better, they ran screaming all the way down the driveway, ... after making it past the graveyard and the ghouls, only to be spooked by my casket opening next to them... (my first animatronic)

To me Halloween is all about giving a little good-natured scare in place of all of the real terrors that we deal with in our daily lives... (can we say bailout!) Kids get to really act like kids and they can put on masks and make-up and explore their inner demons/princesses/superheroes, etc!

Many of the kids that were visiting friends in this neighborhood were really happy that one house went way above the norm and created a haunted house. They were saying how cool it was and giggled and laughed nervously about trying to pass through our graveyard to see the Pumpkin King.

This year I even made my first animatronic monster in a box, (MIB) which in haunted circles is considered pretty basic, but to get circuit board controllers programmed and infrared sensor and fog machine and internal lights all working together, it isn't all that simple. (as I found out) I'll have some links and pictures up on my Haunted Vistaphotography webpage for you to learn something from what I did.

(Mostly links to others' websites, who I learned from on how to do this stuff)!

I hope your Halloween was scarefully delicious and maybe you'll stop into Atkinson NH next year to see what we come up with....

Contest Winner!!

The winner for my personally created box of greeting cards was Autumn Leaf and now I'm waiting for him/her to get a hold of me.

I would love to hear from you. You can leave a comment here (in the blog) or drop me a note over in the foliage forum.

Hey Lisa, great Pumpkin King. Jeff, your casket lives up to its expectations. Really great overall job. The whole house from the street looks spookly fantastic. Sure wish we could see it in person; do you think we could get them to move Halloween up to somewhere in the first two weeks of October. lol

Hi Jeff and Lisa,

It was nice to meet you today in Walgreens. Great pictures! Thanks for the new website, very cool.

I'm glad you guys like the pictures. We had lots of fun terrifying the kids... At least the ones we could still scare... Hmmm How to raise the bar higher next year...

Jeff
