Foliage Season is Winding Down
Scary things to come!

Greetings Foliage Peepers!
Well, I have a sunny day but I'm stuck here at home... My truck is in the shop, it was bound to happen with all the miles I put on it and it has to happen now rather than in June!
I put a personal contest item up in the foliage forum and so far only one person has taken a crack at it. You login to the forum topic "Jeff's Contest Winner" and make a guess at how many miles I will rack up by Midnight on Halloween. The winner will get a boxed set of note cards that I create from my fall photos. I'm doing this on my own so please leave an e-mail address for me to inform you that you won. A gentleman from Abilene Texas won my last contest and I have no way of contacting him to send the card... So make sure I can get hold of you.
I'll be heading out this week for points south. So stay tuned...
Sunday Lisa and I made a pass through southern NH and the report is sad since the wind we got on Sat has done some damage and brought down a fair number of leaves...
That said we did see trees that are in the process of turning that held on to their leaves with no problem. We drove along route 97 from Boxford to Atkinson and I saw some trees that were glowing in the sunshine. So if you can't do a longer drive down to RI or CT then get out and spend an afternoon enjoying the trees that still have leaves on your street.
If you have kids then this is the best time to tone down their busy schedules of school and after school projects/sports. Teach them that they have to take a few minutes away from game boys and homework and just enjoy the natural world around us. All too soon the snow will begin to fall? (And they'll be indoors all the time!! Scary thought!! :-) )
Anyone think with these cold temps that we'll have snow on Halloween? We had 36 degrees this morning in Salem and it's not out of the realm of possibility? (Not wishing for it though)
Speaking of Halloween! Have those yard haunts started to pop up in your neighborhood yet? As Lisa and I drove back from setting up my sister's house for Halloween in Atkinson NH we decided to stop in Boxford MA and see if a certain house has set his place up for Halloween.
We weren't disappointed and on the corner of Fieldstone and Ipswich road you will find quite the home haunt display. Although many, if not most are store bought monsters, he has quite the collection.
As you can see from the pictures (these are hand held so I apologize now) that he has quite the menagerie and I didn't photograph all the ones behind the front row!
If you're in this area then stop by and take a look at his place. If not, why not take a few snapshots of yours or a neighbors and upload them in the user photo gallery for the rest of us to enjoy.
If you have a particularly scary neighborhood yard let us know about it. If you feel inspired to create your own "yard of scariness" then stop by my "haunted Vistaphotography" webpage were I post links to pages where you can learn how to do these things in your own home or garage. And yes this is where I will post pictures of the Halloween I create for my niece and nephews. So enjoy and Happy Halloween!
One last note!
This weekend is also the Keene NH Pumpkin Festival so bring your carved and ready to light pumpkin out on Sat to help them get back in the record books also be aware they have kids things going on all day at at the end of the night they have great fireworks... So stop on out...
I would love to hear from you as to whether you and you can leave a comment here or drop me a note over in the foliage forum.
