Color for colors sake

Yes a maple is just a maple but sometime you just want to capture that color and take it into the winter months to warm your heart and memories... Taken in Marblehead (old town)

Unknown tree but similar to Black Gum tree... Ideas? Maybe a image of the whole leaf...

Greetings Foliage Peepers!

For those trying to figure out how many miles I?m traveling this season I did 102 miles yesterday in southern NH in the area of Georgetown and Haverhill so factor that into your guesses.

I'm not sure if everyone is waiting until the last minute to put their guesses up in my foliage forum contest (Click here to go direct). I hope everyone jumps in before the cutoff on Halloween evening at midnight (The witching hour!)

I traveled through and around Georgetown on Sat and there are still many trees along 97 that are in full color and a great shade of red/orange. I think if you wanted to get out this week you will find many opportunities to still catch some color here and there. Although if you don't make the time soon, it will be too late..

Winnekenni Castle in Haverhill MA

I was traveling up to my sisters to take the kids out for a little haunted castle fun at Winnekenni Castle in Haverhill. I took my niece and nephews who range from 13 down to 8 and they all got a kick out of the scariness of the place and once it got dark they all got into the correct frame of mind (terrified!)... The laser tag turned out to be just laser tag in a big tent (no zombies in sight). Even so, I had a good time finding the kids in the tent and lighting them up! As they did me...

Traveling in my backyard

I was out in my neighborhood this morning and I have an unknown tree, it's similar to a Black Gum tree in shape of leaf but I believe it's different. The leaves are just starting to turn (it holds onto them until after Thanksgiving) a wonderful shade of orange.

While Sugar Maples may be my favorite for crimson/orange, this tree runs a close second for it's colors that start bright orange and end up with a dark red purple.. I'll post a picture of it to the right and see if anyone knows it?

Connors Farm Maze

I was reading this morning's paper and the Connor farm in Danvers is turning their corn maze into a haunted maze for one evening only, on Halloween. They are relatively new at corn mazes and they hired a company to come in this fall and turn their field into a very elaborate maze in the image of a clowns face. They do hayrides and pony rides and all sorts of great activities for the kids. Check this link to get a full listing of events...

I would love to hear from you as to whether you and you can leave a comment here or drop me a note over in the foliage forum.
